Let me go!

Let you go

I want to get off the phone now because I hate talking to you, but I’ll pretend that I’m being polite by letting you go back to whatever boring crap you would be doing if you weren’t talking to me.

Them: So then he said it was benign but I should probably get it removed. And I said-

You: Wow! That’s nuts! Hey look, I’m sure you’ve got a lot of stuff to take care of. I’m gonna let you go. Bye.

Them: Oh, uh, yeah. Bye.
.

How do you know when exactly to stop? I always end up being rude, or being offended if the other person is rude. The fact that I despise talking on the phone obviously doesn’t help. You know what would be perfect? If you couldn’t use your phone for making calls. Only texts is more than enough. Excuse me while I go share my wisdom with Etisalat. Don’t worry I’ll be back soon with more wisdom for you guys.

I know exactly what you mean! Especially your texting point.

The best thing to do is to be honest and just say “I gotta go now”. The problem here is choosing the right point at which to say it. I always mess that bit up, choosing the point at which the other person’s either about to talk about something new to the conversation, or is about to get my opinion on something.

The worst bit though, is the silence when both have run out of things to say but neither has it in them to end the call; “so, what else? What else?” Hahahaha, excruciating!

We need to start spreading the word that putting the phone to your ear is bad.

    • thats my problem too – I get the “I gotta go now” point wrong everytime.
lets start a mass email – answering your phone can cause cancer. oh wait we already have that.

But there’s always at least one person who you don’t mind picking the phone up to because you know they won’t talk fazool bukwass and will end the call when they’re done and won’t mind. There’s always one.

This problem should be easy to deal with for you Sis. What you have to do is start to build up a reputation of either a) Your parents don’t like it when you’re on the phone or b) When you’re at home, you tend not to keep your phone on your person. If you tell people just to leave you a message and you’ll get back, you will find it works.

The good thing about b) is that girls usually have less pockets in their clothing (hence the handbags etc) so it’s difficult to carry your phone around with you anyway. So when you tell someone that you don’t keep the phone on you, it will be more believable.

P.s, I will not be held responsible for any regretful consequences of following this advice.

    • yeah there are always a few people you like speaking to – even if its faltu bakwaas.
and if there happen to be any regretful consequences, of course I’m holding you responsible :)
